The Friendly Toast is an absolute must if you are in Portsmouth. They have a creative menu and a nostalgic, quirky decor. The staff are professional and friendly. Our waitress was the best. Recommend 10/10.
Wow! The Friendly Toast is phenomenal... A unique and fun atmosphere. Very friendly staff. Eric was our server and he was welcoming and attentive. The food we ordered (3-people) got two thumbs up. We will be back during future trips to Portsmouth..
Great ambiance, friendly and attentive service. My French toast was exceptional. Only gave 4 stars for the food because it came without any sides or garnish. I asked for the French Toast and got just the bread. See photo for how it was presented
If you've never been to the Friendly Toast, it is a must stop. Decorated so cute with all kinds of retro decorations. I love the unique lights on all of the tables. We visited on a Tuesday in the winter so it was easy to get in. I've also visited in Summer and it is pretty busy so you'll want a reservation. We had Brendon as a waiter and he was 10/10. Super nice and great vibes. Food was fantastic and I had the pastrami sandwich. So good and loves the waffle fries! My girlfriends and I had a blast! Will definitely be back soon :)
I recently visited The Friendly Toast in Boston’s Back Bay, and it quickly became one of my favorite brunch spots. The moment I stepped inside, I was greeted by a vibrant, retro-inspired atmosphere filled with eclectic decor that added a fun and welcoming vibe to the dining experience. The menu was impressively diverse, catering to various dietary preferences, including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. I decided to try the “Hash Quiche,” which was a delightful combination of cheesy eggs accompanied by a fresh fruit salad . The flavors were rich and satisfying, making it a standout dish. My friend opted for the “Breakfast Burrito,” which was generously filled and packed with flavor. The portion sizes were substantial, ensuring we left feeling full and content. We also shared the “French Toast Monster,” a cinnamon raisin French toast served with bacon, eggs, and home fries. It was a perfect blend of sweet and savory, and even though we got it to-go, it remained fresh and delicious . The service was prompt and friendly, with staff members who were attentive and eager to ensure we had a great experience. Despite the bustling environment, our food arrived quickly, and the staff maintained a cheerful demeanor throughout our visit. Overall, The Friendly Toast offers a unique and enjoyable dining experience with its creative menu, generous portions, and lively atmosphere. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable brunch spot in Boston.
This restaurant seems to be a mix of retro vibe with new school energy. The food was great and the summer flight was amazing. Our waitress was very attentive, with lots of spunk and energy. Definitely loved her for that. I would visit again just because of her. I also loved that they have cinnamon swirling as an option for bread!!!!
As someone who grew up in Portsmouth and spent years trying all the local spots, The Friendly Toast was never really on my radar. I recently went back after not dining there in over a decade and I can honestly say it’s one of the best restaurants Portsmouth has to offer. Fun and creative food with tons of options for whatever you may be in the mood for, unique and well designed drink menu offering some twists on drinks you won’t get anywhere else, and great service with a fun vibe. Will definitely be in my regular rotation moving forward! Good job Toast
I visited The Friendly Toast, not once, but twice, during my short stay in Portsmouth. Now I’m practically begging them to set up shop in Columbus, Ohio because... incredible food, BRUNCH, did I mention the food? Because it’s divine. My friend whom I traveled with found this spot, which I also had on my itinerary oddly enough, popped in after our flight into Boston. I had these hash quiches on a whim. It sounded unique and tasted just as delicious as I anticipated. The coffee was strong. The staff was friendly and attentive. On another day I went back solo and had the chorizo Benedict which was promptly scarfed down to get me ready for my day prior to competing in the IFPA Women’s World Pinball Championships. If I see another Friendly Toast in my adventures, I’ll be back. Until then, I’m putting it out into the Universe they will magically place a location in my backyard — literally or figuratively.
